Lake Lanier is believed to be haunted as it's built atop of what used to be a Black village called Oscarville outside Forsyth County Just about all of the Black residents of that area were forced to leave under the threat of lynching or having their houses burned to the ground As a result plenty of legends and stories have emerged about Lake Lanier None of them are good Since its formation 500 people have died there and nearly 200 since 1994
