10 year old Tani Adewumi just became the newest national chess master Some of you may remember Tani from when he burst onto the national scene in 2019 as a Nigerian refugee who won the New York Stake K-3 scholastic chess championship while he was living in a homeless shelter He wouldn't have even gotten that opportunity had the chess club at his school not waived their fees so that he could join Two years later he's a national chess master with dreams of someday becoming a Grand Master
