Multiple victims killed in Chesterfield

Chesterfield Police Major Michael Louth provides details about a homicide investigation on Laurel Oaks Road in Chesterfield County The following is an edited transcript of the initial briefing on Friday November 18 2022 Just shortly before five o'clock this morning we received a call for a disturbance in the 4200 block of Laurel Oaks Road Officers responded to the scene and when they went inside to do a welfare check they found victims of what we believe to be a homicide at this point I'm not going to disclose the number of victims that we have right this very second because we're still trying to do next-of-kin notifications and do some follow-up on this But all I can tell you is at this very moment we're still working diligently to put all this together We'll probably be here all day Between the forensic work and canvassing the neighborhood trying to find anyone that may have any information about this incident and maybe a ring camera or some type of surveillance camera on their house Maybe someone that saw anything this morning prior to five o'clock I would certainly appreciate anyone reaching out to us with any information that you have Caroline Coleburn Is there any danger to the neighborhood right now a suspect at large Michael Louth I do not believe this to be a random act right this very second But you know as always out of an abundance of caution and that's what I would say anybody that has any information you know please reach out to us with anything that you have right this very moment There's never an easy time when you go to someone's house and you find a homicide and you have to go notify a family next of kin to someone that has died It's never an easy morning like that Reporter What's your message to these neighbors I know you said if you see something say something but just any message to keep them feeling okay This morning some of them have been concerned Michael Louth Well certainly we're going to increase neighborhood patrols There will be a strong police presence in this neighborhood You know not just today but moving forward as well But again you know if they saw anything they heard anything anything that you know stood out of the way to them please call us let us make the determination whether it's significant or not I'll be honest with you This is still really early on in the investigation We're going to be working really hard today to see if we can wrap this up as quickly as we can and make these people in this neighborhood feel safe
